A graduate school is a school that awards advanced academic degrees (i.e. master's degree, MBA, Ph.D.) with the general requirement that students must have earned a previous undergraduate (bachelor's) degree. Many universities award graduate degrees; a graduate school is not necessarily a separate institution.

Producing original research is often a significant component of graduate studies, including the writing and defense of a thesis or dissertation. The term "graduate school" is primarily North American. At the Ph.D. level, though, it is quite common to take courses from a wider range of study, for which some fixed portion of coursework, sometimes known as a residency, is typically required to be taken from outside the department and college of the degree-seeking candidate, to broaden the research abilities of the student. Some institutions designate separate graduate versus undergraduate staff and denote other divisions (often called School of X, e.g., diplomacy)

Tips of how to be a successful husband

1. Dress up for your wife, look clean and smell good.When was the last time us men went shopping for designer pajamas? Just like the husband wants his wife to look nice for him, she also wants her husband to dress up for her too. Remember that Rasul Allah - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - would always start with Miswak when returning home and always loved the sweetest smells.

2. Use the cutest names for your wife. Rasul Allah - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - had nicknames for his wives, ones that they loved. Call your wife by the most beloved names to her, and avoid using names that hurt their feelings.

3. Don't treat her like a fly. We never think about a fly in our daily lives until it 'bugs' us. Similarly, a wife will do well all day - which brings no attention from the husband - until she does something to 'bug' him. Don't treat her like this; recognize all the good that she does and focus on that.

4. If you see wrong from your wife, try being silent and do not comment! This is one of the ways Rasul Allah - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - used when he would see something inappropriate from his wives - radi Allahu 'anhunn. It's a technique that few Muslim men have mastered.

5. Smile at your wife whenever you see her and embrace her often. Smiling is Sadaqah and your wife is not exempt from the Muslim Ummah. Imagine life with her constantly seeing you smiling. Remember also those Ahadith when Rasul Allah - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - would kiss his wife before leaving for Salah, even if he was fasting.

6. Thank her for all that she does for you. Then thank her again! Take for example a dinner at your house. She makes the food, cleans the home, and a dozen other tasks to prepare. And sometimes the only acknowledgement she receives is that there needed to be more salt in the soup. Don't let that be; thank her!

7. Ask her to write down the last ten things you did for her that made her happy. Then go and do them again. It may be hard to recognize what gives your wife pleasure. You don't have to play a guessing game, ask her and work on repeating those times in your life.

8. Don't be little her desires. Comfort her. Sometimes the men may look down upon the requests of their wives. Rasul Allah - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam set the example for us in an incident when Safiyyah - radi Allahu 'anha - was crying because, as she said, he had put her on a slow camel. He wiped her tears, comforted her, and brought her the camel.

9. Be humorous and Play games with your wife. Look at how Rasul Allah - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - would race his wife Aisha - radi Allahu 'anha - in the desert. When was the last time we did something like that?

10. Always remember the words of Allah's Messenger - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam: "The best of you are those who treat their families the best. And I am the best amongst you to my family." Try to be the best!

In conclusion: Never forget to make Dua to Allah - azza wa jall - to make your marriage successful. And Allah ta'ala knows best !!

Top 5 lies about Israel's assault on Gaza

Lie #1: Israel is only targeting legitimate military sites and is seeking to protect innocent lives. Israel never targets civilians.

The Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated pieces of property in the world. The presence of fighters within a civilian population does not, under international law, deprive that population of their protected status, and hence any assault upon that population under the guise of targeting fighters is, in fact, a war crime.

Moreover, the people Israel claims are legitimate targets are members of Hamas, which Israel says is a terrorist organization. Hamas has been responsible for firing rockets into Israel. These rockets are extremely inaccurate and thus, even if Hamas intended to hit military targets within Israel, are indiscriminate by nature. When rockets from Gaza kill Israeli civilians, it is a war crime.

Hamas has a military wing. However, it is not entirely a military organization, but a political one. Members of Hamas are the democratically elected representatives of the Palestinian people. Dozens of these elected leaders have been kidnapped and held in Israeli prisons without charge.

Others have been targeted for assassination, such as Nizar Rayan, a top Hamas official. To kill Rayan, Israel targeted a residential apartment building. The strike not only killed Rayan but two of his wives and four of his children, along with six others. There is no justification for such an attack under international law. This was a war crime.

Other of Israel's bombardment with protected status under international law have included a mosque, a prison, police stations, and a university, in addition to residential buildings.

Moreover, Israel has long held Gaza under siege, allowing only the most minimal amounts of humanitarian supplies to enter. Israel is bombing and killing Palestinian civilians. Countless more have been wounded, and cannot receive medical attention. Hospitals running on generators have little or no fuel. Doctors have no proper equipment or medical supplies to treat the injured. These people, too, are the victims of Israeli policies targeted not at Hamas or legitimate military targets, but directly designed to punish the civilian population.

Lie #2) Hamas violated the cease-fire. The Israeli bombardment is a response to Palestinian rocket fire and is designed to end such rocket attacks.

Israel never observed the cease-fire to begin with. From the beginning, it announced a "special security zone" within the Gaza Strip and announced that Palestinians who enter this zone will be fired upon. In other words, Israel announced its intention that Israeli soldiers would shoot at farmers and other individuals attempting to reach their own land in direct violation of not only the cease-fire but international law.

Despite shooting incidents, including ones resulting in Palestinians getting injured, Hamas still held to the cease-fire from the time it went into effect on June 19 until Israel effectively ended the truce on November 4 by launching an airstrike into Gaza that killed five and injured several others.

Israel's violation of the cease-fire predictably resulted in retaliation from militants in Gaza who fired rockets into Israel in response. The increased barrage of rocket fire at the end of December is being used as justification for the continued Israeli bombardment, but is a direct response to the Israeli attacks.

Israel's actions, including its violation of the cease-fire, predictably resulted in an escalation of rocket attacks against its own population.

Lie #3) Hamas is using human shields, a war crime.

There has been no evidence that Hamas has used human shields. The fact is, as previously noted, Gaza is a small piece of property that is densely populated. Israel engages in indiscriminate warfare such as the assassination of Nizar Rayan, in which members of his family were also murdered. It is victims like his dead children that Israel defines as "human shields" in its propaganda.

There is no legitimacy for this interpretation under international law. In circumstances such as these, Hamas is not using human shields, Israel is committing war crimes in violation of the Geneva Conventions and other applicable international law.

Lie #4) Arab nations have not condemned Israel's actions because they understand Israel's justification for its assault.

The populations of those Arab countries are outraged at Israel's actions and at their own governments for not condemning Israel's assault and acting to end the violence. Simply stated, the Arab governments do not represent their respective Arab populations. The populations of the Arab nations have staged mass protests in opposition to not only Israel's actions but also the inaction of their own governments and what they view as either complacency or complicity in Israel's crimes.

Moreover, the refusal of Arab nations to take action to come to the aid of the Palestinians is not because they agree with Israel's actions, but because they are submissive to the will of the US, which fully supports Israel. Egypt, for instance, which refused to open the border to allow Palestinians wounded in the attacks to get medical treatment in Egyptian hospitals, is heavily dependent upon US aid, and is being widely criticized within the population of the Arab countries for what is viewed as an absolute betrayal of the Gaza Palestinians.

Even Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been regarded as a traitor to his own people for blaming Hamas for the suffering of the people of Gaza. Palestinians are also well aware of Abbas' past perceived betrayals in conniving with Israel and the U.S. to sideline the democratically elected Hamas government, culminating in a counter-coup by Hamas in which it expelled Fatah (the military wing of Abbas' Palestine Authority) from the Gaza Strip. While his apparent goal was to weaken Hamas and strengthen his own position, the Palestinians and other Arabs in the Middle East are so outraged at Abbas that it is unlikely he will be able to govern effectively.

Lie #5) Israel is not responsible for civilian deaths because it warned the Palestinians of Gaza to flee areas that might be targeted.

Israel claims it sent radio and telephone text messages to residents of Gaza warning them to flee from the coming bombardment. But the people of Gaza have nowhere to flee to. They are trapped within the Gaza Strip. It is by Israeli design that they cannot escape across the border.

It is by Israeli design that they have no food, water, or fuel by which to survive. It is by Israeli design that hospitals in Gaza have no electricity and few medical supplies with which to treat the injured and save lives. And Israel has bombed vast areas of Gaza, targeting civilian infrastructure and other sites with protected status under international law. No place is safe within the Gaza Strip.

The Worst Fitnah

Ibn Abd al-Barr reported that Hudhayfah was asked: "What is the worst fitnah?" So, he replied: "That you are presented with the good and the bad, and you are confused as to which path to take."

Ibn Abi Shaybah in his 'Musannaf' reported that Khalid bin al-Walid said: "Fitnah is that you are in a land in which sins are rampant, and when you seek to leave it for a land in which sins are not rampant, you are unable to find such a place."

Ibn Abi Shaybah also reported that Abu Hurayrah said: "There will be a fitnah such that nothing can rescue you from it except to supplicate as if you are drowning."

Suddenly, there was a person, he said salaam.

"May I come in?" he asked.

But Fatimah did not allow him enter the room.

"I'm sorry, my father is ill," said Fatimah, turned her body back

She went back to her father who had opened his eyes and asked Fatimah,
"Who was he, my daughter?"

"I don't know, my father. It was the first time for me to see

Then, Rasulullah looked at his daughter with trembled look, as if he
wanted to reminisce about every part of her daughter's face.

"Know one thing! He is who erases the temporary pleasure; he is who
separates the companionship in the world.

He is the death angel," said Rasulullah .

Fatimah bore the bomb of her cry. The death angel came toward him, But
Rasulullah asked why Jibril did not come along with him..

Then, Jibril was called. Jibril was ready in the sky to welcome the
soul of Habibullah and the leader of the earth.

"O Jibril, explain me about my rights in front of ALLAH?" Rasulullah
asked with a weakest voice.

"The doors of sky have opened, the angels are waiting for your
soul."

"All jannats open widely waiting for you," Jibril said.

But, in fact, all this did not make Rasulullah relieved, his eyes were
still full of worry.

"You are not happy to hear this news?" asked Jibril.

"Tell me about the destiny of my people in future?"

"Don't worry, O Rasul ALLAH. I heard ALLAH tell me: 'I make jannat
haram for every one, except the people of Muhammad who are inside it,"
Jibril said.

It became closer and closer, the time for Malaekat Izrail to do his work.

Slowly, Rasulullah's soul was pulled. It was seemed that the body of
Rasulullah was full of sweat; the nerves of his neck became tight.

"Jibril, how painful this sakaratul maut is!"

Rasulullah uttered a groan slowly. Fatimah closed her eyes, Ali sat
beside her bowed deeply and Jibril turned his face back.

"Am I repugnant to you that you turn your face back o Jibril?"
Rasulullah asked the Deliverer of Wahy.

"Who is the one who could see the Habibullah in his condition of
sakaratul maut," Jibril said.

Not for a while, Rasulullah uttered a groan because of unbearable pain.

"O ALLAH, how great is this sakaratul maut. Give me all these pains,
don't give it to my people."

The body of Rasulullah became cold, his feet and chest did not move anymore..

His lips vibrated as if he wanted to say something, Ali took his ear
close to Rasulullah.

"Uushiikum bis shalati, wa maa malakat aimanuku - take care of the
saalat and take care the weak people among you."

Outside the room, there were cries shouted each other, sahabah held
each other. Fatimah closed her face with her hands and, again, Ali
took his ear close to Rasulullah's mouth which became bluish.

"Ummatii, ummatii, ummatii?" - "My people, my people, my
people."

And the life of the noble man ended.

Could we love each other like him? Allahumma sholli 'ala Muhammad wa
baarikwa salim 'alaihi. How deep is Rasulullah's love to us.

Note:

Send this to all your Muslim friends so that there is an awareness
towards the love of ALLAH and His Rasul - because - truly - except
this love, the other loves, are only fana (not everlasting) thing.
Ameen....

Don't worry if people hate you because there are many others who love
and care you in the earth. But be worried if ALLAH hates you because
there is no other who loves and cares you in akhirat.

May Almighty Allah guide all of us to the Right Path and give all of
us the courage to accept the Truth in the light of Qur'an and Sunnah
and to reject all things which are in contradiction to the Holy Qur'an
and Sunnah.

Don't miss your Salah

Prayer (Salaah) is one of the most important pillars of Islam, second only to the Shahaadah. It is also an individual obligation on each and every one of us.The Ulama say that whoever does not do it because he denies that it is obligatory or he does not do it because he is lazy and heedless, is a kaafir. Yet, there are innumerable excuses we come up with, to not pray, either on time or not pray at all. Some of the most common excuses are:

Excuse #1:
Allah is al-Ghafoor ar-Raheem. He will forgive me.

Reply:
Yes, surely Allaah is al-Ghafoor ar-Raheem but, did you forget, O Muslim, that He also said that He is ash-Shadeed ul-Iqaab (severe
in punishment). "And fear Allaah much and know that Allaah is Severe in punishment." (Surah al-Baqarah:196)
And the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "The covenant that stands between us and them (non-Muslims) is prayer; whoever gives up prayer is a kaafir." (Tirmidhi, al-Nasaa'i, Ibn Maajah--saheeh ).

Excuse #2:
I know I have to pray, but I am too tired/lazy.

Reply:
Praying Salaat at its proper appointed times is an obligation on every single person. Whoever deliberately misses a prayer exposes himself to the wrath of Allaah, and the wise believer does not do something which he knows could result in punishment.

Just look at what the people of Hell will say when asked:

"What has caused you to enter Hell?" They will say: "We were not among those who prayed (Salaat)." [Surah al-Muddaththir: 42-43]
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "Between a man and kufr and shirk, there stands his giving up prayer." (Muslim)

Ibn Mas'ood said: "No one keeps away from the prayer except a hypocrite who is known for his hypocrisy." (Muslim)

Excuse #3:
I am SO busy at work, I don't have time to pray.

Reply:
So you mean to tell me that you can't take out even a few minutes out of the whole 24 hours to worship the very One Who created you in the first
place?? You mean you don't have time to thank the Lord of the worlds for everything He's given you.....ALL His blessings?? What kind of ungrateful soul are you??!! And if He wanted to take all these blessings away from you, is there anything, anything you could do?!!

"Men whom neither trade nor business diverts from the remembrance of Allaah nor from performing As-Salaat nor from giving Zakaat; they fear a Day when hearts and eyes will be overturned (out of the horror of the torment of the Day of Resurrection) . That Allaah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace. And Allaah provides without measure to whom He wills." [Surah al-Noor:37-38]

Excuse #4:

I pray; I just delay it until it is convenient for me or I pray it Qadaa.

Reply: You should understand that delaying prayer beyond the time when it is due is a major sin, because Allaah says: "Verily, As-Salaah (the prayer) is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours." [Surah al-Nisa':103]
And Allaah says:
"So woe unto those performers of Salaah (prayers). Those who delay their Salaah (prayer from their stated fixed times)." [Surah al-Maa'oon :4,5]

Excuse #6:
My position/boss/ studies/does not allow me.

Reply:
Remember that the Prophet (pbuh) mentioned about prayer one day and said:

"Whoever observes it regularly, it will be light and a proof and salvation on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever does not observe it regularly, it will not be a light or a proof or salvation for him, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be with Qaroon, Firaun, Hamaan and Ubayy ibn Khalaf." (Ahmad).

Ibn al-Qayyim said: These four people are mentioned because they are the leaders of kufr. This makes an important point about the one who does not observe regular prayer, whether that is because he is distracted by his wealth, his power, his position of leadership or his business. The one who is distracted from it by his wealth will be with Qaroon; the one who is distracted by his power will be with Firaun; the one who is distracted by his position of leadership will be with Hamaan and the one who is distracted by his business will be with Ubayy ibn Khalaf."

Excuse #7:

If I pray, I will be fired from my job!

Reply: Remember that it is not your boss, but Allah that provides RIZQ for you and me. If this job is keeping you away from the most important duty as a Muslim, is this job really worth it? And whoever gives up something for the sake of Allaah, Allaah will compensate him with something better than that.
"And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allaah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things." [Talaaq:2-3]

Excuse #8:
I want to pray but my children are so young I can't leave them and pray

Reply: "O you
who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allaah. And whosoever does that, then they are the LOSERS."
(Surah al-Munaafiqoon: 9)

Excuse #9:
I can't pray at my job/school/public place. I am too embarrassed /they will think I am a TERRORIST!

Reply:
How can a Muslim feel embarrassed about proclaiming the truth and worshiping his Lord openly, hastening to fulfill the command of Allah at the time when Allah has said it is to be done? Also, if you uphold your duty to pray, Allah will never let you down. He is the one to protect you and save you from all harm, no matter what anyone tries to plot against you. Remember that the one who is protected by Allah, NO ONE CAN HARM. "Whoever works righteousness,
whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer- verily, to him We will give a good life, and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do." [Surah al-Nahl:97]

Excuse #10:
If I pray, people will think that I show off. So I don't pray.

Reply:
Just as the Shaytaan comes to the Muslim to make him admire his actions and show off to people, sometimes he uses the opposite trick and makes a person think that he is showing off while fulfilling his relogious obligations, so that he will not do it. So just ignore these whisperings from the Shaytaan and don't let him keep you away from this major Ibadah. DO NOT let him win.
Ibraaheem al-Nakhaa'i said: "If the Shaytaan comes to you when you are praying and says, 'You are showing off', then you should make it even longer..."

"And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaytaan, then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower." [Surah al-Aa'raaf:200]

Excuse #11:
I have made/am making so many mistakes in my life, it is no use for me to pray.Allaah will never forgive me.

Reply:
Now, this is another one of the tricks of Shaytaan.He does not want you to do Tawbah, because he knows, if you sincerely repent to Allaah for ALL that you have done, Allaah WILL FORGIVE YOU. Allaah encourages us to do tauba when He said: "Say: 'O My slaves, who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allaah, verily, Allaah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." [Surah al-Zumar:53]

Subhaan Allaah! How Forgiving is our Rabb and how Merciful! Isn't this Ayah enough, even for the worst of sinners among us? And remember, doing good
deeds wipes out sins. "And perform As-Salaah, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory prayers]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds." [Surah Hood:114]

Excuse
#12: I don't pray, but I have a good heart. I am a good person and I never hurt anyone.

Reply: The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: "The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad." (Tabarani).

So no matter what good deeds you did in this dunya, if you didn't pray, nothing will count or even be accepted.... .no zakaah, no fasting, no Hajj,
no nothing. "Whoever does not pray 'Asr, his good deeds will be annulled." (Bukhaari).

Excuse #13:
But, I pray every Jumuah. Isn't that enough?

Reply:
With regard to the ruling on one who prays Jumuah only, some of the scholars are of the view that one who prays Jumuah only is a kaafir, because he comes under the same ruling as one who does not pray at all, because he prays only one of the thirty-five prayers required each week, so he is like one who does not pray at all. (Fatawa Shaykh ibn Baaz and Ibn Uthaymeen)
Some scholars said that he is not a kaafir but he is committing a great sin that is worse than riba (usury), adultery, stealing, drinking alcohol etc.

Excuse #14:
My spouse/parents don't pray. Why should I??

Reply:
Just because your family does something sinful, does not mean that you do the same. Remember, they will NOT be there to save you when Allaah will ask YOU about YOUR Salaah. In fact, your duty is to call them to Allah by advising them and setting a good example for them to follow. "And enjoin al-Salaah on your family, and be patient in offering them [the prayers]. We ask not of you a provision; We provide for you. And the good end (Paradise) is for the muttaqoon (pious)." [Ta-Ha:132]

Excuse #15:

I will pray when I am older/after Hajj/ Ramadhan.

Reply:
Do you want to be from these people that Allaah is talking about??

"Then, there has succeeded them a generation who have given up As-Salaah and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell."
[Maryam:59]
And, how do you know you will live to be older? Or live until Hajj or Ramadhaan?? What if you die tomorrow?? What if it was today???

CONCLUSION:
There can be no excuses as far as Salaah is concerned. We have to pray all the five prayers and all of them on time.
"O you who believe! Fear Allaah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)."

[al-Tawbah:119]
"Guard strictly the (five obligatory) prayers, especially the middle Salaat (˜Asr). And stand before Allaah with obedience."

Who is Allah?

It is a known fact that every language has one or more terms that are used in reference to God and sometimes to lesser deities. This is not the case with Allah. Allah is the personal name of the One true God. Nothing else can be called Allah. The term has no plural or gender. This shows its uniqueness when compared with the word god which can be made plural, gods, or feminine, goddess. It is interesting to notice that Allah is the personal name of God in Aramaic, the language of Jesus and a sister language of Arabic.

What does it mean to believe in Allah?

Ans: To believe in Allah means to believe in total perfection, and uniqueness.
It means to believe in His prophets because they are His, and He sent them. We can not pick and choose. A Muslim must believe in all the prophets of Allah.
It means to believe in the Angles! We must love them all. We cannot hate an Angel say, for example, Michael to whom rain and the vegetation of the Earth are attributed or Gabriel to whom revelation (bringing down the scriptures to the prophets) is attributed.
It means to believe in Allah's predestination of good and bad.
It means to believe in the last day: The day of Judgment.

What does Islam mean?

The Arabic word Islam simply means 'submission', and derives from a word meaning 'peace'. In a religious context it means complete submission to the will of God. 'Mohammedanism' is thus a misnomer because it suggests that Muslims worship Muhammad (peace be upon him) rather than God. 'Allah' is the Arabic name for God, which is used by Arab Muslims and Christians alike.

How do we know Islam is the truth?

1- It is the only religion that holds Allah as One, Unique, and Perfect.
2- It is the only religion that believes in the sole worship of Allah, not Jesus, not an idol, and not an angel, only Allah.
3- The Quran does not contain contradictions.
4- The Quran contains scientific facts, which are 1300 years ahead of their time. The Quran, while revealed 1400 years ago contains scientific facts, which are only now being discovered. It is not in contradiction to science.
5- Allah has challenged the world to produce the like of the Quran. And He says they won't be able to.
6- Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the most influential man in history. In the book "The 100 most influential men in History", written by non-Muslim, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was #1. Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) was #3. It should be noted that even the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) was a prophet sent by Allah. Would Allah allow a false prophet to be so successful? No. Even the Bible refers to this in Deuteronomy 18:19. A false prophet would die!!! Yet Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not die till he completely conveyed, and taught Allah's religion.
7- He had many prophecies, and all of his prophecies have come true, or are still coming true.

Who is Jesus to us?

Jesus (peace be upon him) is a true prophet, sent by Allah like Moses, Abraham, Lot, Noah, Jonah, Joseph, etc (peace be upon them)

Is Allah the same as what Christians call "the father"?

Allah is the Creator, who Jesus (peace be upon him) worshipped. He is the Creator who spoke to Moses and split the sea for Moses and his followers. That is Allah. But Allah tells us: "Say Allah is one, He is Perfect, He has never begotten, nor was He begot, and there is no one equal to Him."

What about someone who has never heard of Islam?

Allah is the most just. It is inconceivable to perceive of anyone acting with more beneficence than Allah. Allah is the most just and in the Quran He said: "We will not punish without sending someone to warn you". The "We" here is the majestic we used in Arabic. So if a person never heard about Islam, and was never warned clearly, Allah would have a special test for that person that He knows is equal to the chance that person would have had on earth.

What about non-Muslims do; they go to heaven?

Allah only accepts Islam. He says in the Quran: "Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam it won't be accepted of him, and he will be one of the losers in the hereafter". I would rather lose anywhere, but not lose in the hereafter. This is because hellfire is eternal. It never ends and we never die when we go there, if we go there

Torture in QABR

I’m not sure about the realism of the pictures and the narrated incident, yet it goes well with the hadis which follows…

In this photo 18-year old young Arab boy who died in one of the hospitals of Oman. The boy died in hospital and was buried under the Islamic law on the same day after obligatory ablution of the body. However after funeral the father doubted the diagnosis of doctors and wanted to identify the true reason of his death. The corpse of the boy had been dug out from the grave within 3 hours after his funeral as his father insisted to know the truth.

Relatives and his friends shocked when they saw the corpse.

He was completely different within 3 hours. He turned grey as if he was a very old man, with traces of obvious tortures and the most severe beating, with the broken bones of hands and legs, with the edges broken and pressed into a body.

All of his body and face were full of bruise. The open eyes-showed hopeless fear and pain. The blood obviously indicated that the boy has been subjected to the most severe torture.

Close relatives of the dead boy approached Muslim Scholars who have unequivocally declared that it is the result of torture in grave; which Allah (s.w.t) and Prophet Muhammad (s..a.w) have warned.

The shocked father of the boy has admitted that his son was spoilt child, did not obey his parent, did not do Salat (prayers / namaz) and had a carefree way of life, having involved in different sins.

Every person after death comes across tests in the tomb, except Shaheed who died in the way of Allah. This is first test which the person comes across after death but before the Doomsday.

We find in Hadis of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w):

- After burial of dead person his soul will return to his body, then two Angels will come, Munkar and Nakir, and will ask: "Who is your Lord?" he will answer: "my Lord - Allah ".. Then they will ask: "What is your religion?" he will answer: "My religion - Islam". Then they will ask him: "Who that person who has been sent to you?" he will answer: "He is the Prophet of Allah ". Then they will ask him: "How do you know?" He will answer: "I read the Book of Allah and trusted Him.

And then from heavens the voice will come: " My Slave has told the truth, lay it to bed from Paradise and open the Gate of Paradise " - then it will be full of pleasure and he begins to feel pleasures of the paradise, and his grave becomes spacious, that eyes can reach.

The Prophet of Allah Muhammad (s.a.w) said about the sinners. After burial of dead person his soul will return to the body, then two Angels will come and ask, "Who is your Lord?" he will answer: "I do not know". Then they will ask: " Who that person who has been sent to you?" he again will answer: I "do not know" - and then from the sky the voice will come: "he told a lie, Put him into a box from fire and open before it the Gate of a hell!”- Than it will be captured with heat of the hell, and his grave becomes narrow and the edges will be compressed.

In Hadis it is also said, that Angels will severely beat the sinners during interrogation in the tomb and this torture will be awful. It is informed also, that our Messenger (s.a.w) supplicated to Allah to protect Him from tortures of the grave and asked other people to do so.

The Prophet (s.a.w) said: " The grave is the first stage of the hereafter. If a person is saved from its torment, then what comes after it is really easy. If one is not saved from it, what follows is really severer." (Ibn Maja)

The Prophet (s.a.w) said: " I have never seen a more horrible sight than that of the grave. " (Ibn Maja, Al Termizi)

This true story of 18-year old young Arab boy is an eye opener for Momins - true believers and for others nothing but a horror story as their hearts are sealed by Allah. They look but do not see, listen but do not hear?

Google Earth proves that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is right

No human on earth can draw a straight line on the surface of the earth between two far cities except with the aid of detailed maps, made possible today due to airplanes, satellites, and knowledge of latitude, longitude, and land height. However, there was a person who had done this 1400 years ago. This person is the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

While the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was in Madinah Al-Munawarah, Allah instructed him that he should face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque in Makkah. From then on, it became the Qiblah for Muslims. And from then on, Islam was spreading. After the victory of (Fatih Makkah) people came and entered Islam. Then, the prophet (peace be upon him) started to sent the teachers to these people to teach them Islam. One of them Wabr ibn Yohanas Al-Khozaee whom the prophet (peace be upon him) sent to Yemen (Sana'a). He was ordered to teach people of Sana and to build them a Mosque by features the prophet (peace be upon him) had defined to him.

Al-Tabarani narrates in the Mu'jam Al-wsat saying:

Wabr ibn Yohanas Al-Khozaee said: the prophet (peace be upon him) said to me ' if you build the mosque of Sana'a, make it to the right of a mountain called Deyn'

To explain, Al-Hafez Al-Rahzey says in his book 'The History of Sana'a) that the prophet (peace be upon him) ordered Wabr ibn Yohanas Al-Khozaee to build the mosque in Bathan park, from where is found a rock in Gamdan and face it to a mountain called Deyn

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),1400 years age, ordered to build the mosque Sana'a facing Jabal-e-deen .If we use Google Earth and draw a straight line from the mosque Sana'a to the Qibla which is in Makkah, it will pass through the peak of jabal-e-deen and will end at the center of Kaba.

How could someone 1400 years ago have shown the exact direction for kaba from a far away city without using the new aids needed for such a process?

Of course this a miracle

During a recent visit to an optician, one of my friends was told of an exercise for the eyes by a specialist doctor that he termed as 20-20-20 ." It is apt for all of us, who spend long hours at our desks, looking at the computer screen.

I Thought I'd share it with you. 20-20-20

Step I :-

After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your head and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This
changes the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.

Step II :-

Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.

Step III :-

Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.

Circulate among your friends if you care for them and their eyes. They say that your eyes r mirror of your soul, so do take care of them, they are priceless... ...

THE QUESTION OF HIJAB: SUPPRESSION OR LIBERATION?

"Why do Muslim women have to cover their heads?" This question is one which is asked by Muslim and non-Muslim alike. For many women it is the truest test of being a Muslim.

The answer to the question is very simple - Muslim women observe HIJAB (covering the head and the body) because Allah has told them to do so.

"O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women to draw their outer garments around them (when they go out or are among men). That is better in order that they may be known (to be Muslims) and not annoyed..." (Qur'an 33:59)

Other secondary reasons include the requirement for modesty in both men and women. Both will then be evaluated for intelligence and skills instead of looks and sexuality. An Iranian school girl is quoted as saying, "We want to stop men from treating us like sex objects, as they have always done. We want them to ignore our appearance and to be attentive to our personalities and mind. We want them to take us seriously and treat us as equals and not just chase us around for our bodies and physical looks." A Muslim woman who covers her head is making a statement about her identity. Anyone who sees her will know that she is a Muslim and has a good moral character. Many Muslim women who cover are filled with dignity and self esteem; they are pleased to be identified as a Muslim woman. As a chaste, modest, pure woman, she does not want her sexuality to enter into interactions with men in the smallest degree. A woman who covers herself is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to be brought out.

The question of hijab for Muslim women has been a controversy for centuries and will probably continue for many more. Some learned people do not consider the subject open to discussion and consider that covering the face is required, while a majority are of the opinion that it is not required. A middle line position is taken by some who claim that the instructions are vague and open to individual discretion depending on the situation. The wives of the Prophet (S) were required to cover their faces so that men would not think of them in sexual terms since they were the "Mothers of the Believers," but this requirement was not extended to other women.

The word "hijab" comes from the Arabic word "hajaba" meaning to hide from view or conceal. In the present time, the context of hijab is the modest covering of a Muslim woman. The question now is what is the extent of the covering? The Qur'an says:

"Say to the believing man that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them; and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; and that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands..." (Qur'an 24:30-31)

These verses from the Qur'an contain two main injunctions:

1. A woman should not show her beauty or adornments except what appears by uncontrolled factors such as the wind blowing her clothes, and

2. the head covers should be drawn so as to cover the hair, the neck and the bosom.

Islam has no fixed standard as to the style of dress or type of clothing that Muslims must wear. However, some requirements must be met. The first of these requirements is the parts of the body which must be covered. Islam has two sources for guidance and rulings: first, the Qur'an, the revealed word of Allah and secondly, the Hadith or the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (S) who was chosen by Allah to be the role model for mankind. The following is a Tradition of the Prophet:

"Ayesha (R) reported that Asmaa the daughter of Abu Bakr (R) came to the Messenger of Allah (S) while wearing thin clothing. He approached her and said: 'O Asmaa! When a girl reaches the menstrual age, it is not proper that anything should remain exposed except this and this. He pointed to the face and hands." (Abu Dawood)

The second requirement is looseness. The clothing must be loose enough so as not to describe the shape of the woman's body. One desirable way to hide the shape of the body is to wear a cloak over other clothes. However, if the clothing is loose enough, an outer garment is not necessary. Thickness is the third requirement. The clothing must be thick enough so as not to show the color of the skin it covers or the shape of the body. The Prophet Muhammad (S) stated that in later generations of his ummah there would be "women who would be dressed but naked and on top of their heads (what looks like) camel humps. Curse them for they are truly cursed." (Muslim) Another requirement is an over-all dignified appearance. The clothing should not attract men's attention to the woman. It should not be shiny and flashy so that everyone notices the dress and the woman. In addition there are other requirements:

1. Women must not dress so as to appear as men.
"Ibn Abbas narrated: 'The Prophet (S) cursed the men who appear like women and the women who appear like men.'" (Bukhari)

2. Women should not dress in a way similar to the unbelievers.

3. The clothing should be modest, not excessively fancy and also not excessively ragged to gain others admiration or sympathy.

Often forgotten is the fact that modern Western dress is a new invention. Looking at the clothing of women as recently as seventy years ago, we see clothing similar to hijab. These active and hard-working women of the West were not inhibited by their clothing which consisted of long, full dresses and various types of head covering. Muslim women who wear hijab do not find it impractical or interfering with their activities in all levels and walks of life. Hijab is not merely a covering dress but more importantly, it is behavior, manners, speech and appearance in public.. Dress is only one facet of the total being. The basic requirement of the Muslim woman's dress apply to the Muslim man's clothing with the difference being mainly in degree. Modesty requires that the area between the navel and the knee be covered in front of all people except the wife. The clothing of men should not be like the dress of women, nor should it be tight or provocative. A Muslim should dress to show his identity as a Muslim. Men are not allowed to wear gold or silk. However, both are allowed for women.

For both men and women, clothing requirements are not meant to be a restriction but rather a way in which society will function in a proper, Islamic manner.

Why eating pork is prohibited in Islam

Question: -
I would like to know why eating pork is prohibited in Islam, despite the fact that some people claim that pigs are very useful, especially when compared to the slow rate of energy conversion to flesh (7% only) whereas the rate of pig’s conversion to flesh is 20%? I just want to know the wisdom behind the prohibition of pork in Islam. Jazakum Allah Khayran!

Answer: In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

As regards your question, we’d like to make it clear that every committed Muslim should accept Allah’s Commands willingly, even without realizing the wisdom behind the Divine rule in question. If man manages to realize the wisdom behind certain prohibited things, it is well and good. If his mind lacks comprehending that Divine Wisdom, then he should accept the truth as it is, keeping in mind that Allah Almighty is the Omniscient of that which is beneficial to His Creatures.

When Allah Almighty prohibits something for His servants, He does so certainly out of His overflowing mercy on them, to save them from all what may bring them harm; He is indeed Ever-Kind and Most Glorious!

As regards the reason why eating pork is prohibited, we’d like to cite for the words of Dr. Zakir Naik, the president of Islamic Research Foundation, Mumbai. He states the following:

“The fact that consumption of pork is prohibited in Islam is well known. The following points explain various aspects of this prohibition:

1. Pork prohibited in the Qur’an:

The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It’s prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115. For instance, Allah says: “Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked a name other than that of Allah.” (Al-Ma’idah: 3)

The above verses of the Glorious Qur’an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.

2. Pork prohibited in the Bible:

Addressing the Christian who is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures, the Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus: “…and the swine, as he divideth the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.” (Leviticus chapter 11 verse 7 and 8)

Pork is also prohibited in the book of Deuteronomy: “And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.” (Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 8)

A similar prohibition is repeated in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

3. Consumption of pork causes several diseases:

The other non-Muslims and atheists will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases.

A person can have various helminthes, like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which in a layman’s terminology is called tapeworm. It harbors in the intestine and is very long. Its ova, i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack and if it enters the eye it can cause blindness. If it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.

Another dangerous helminthes is Taenia Trichuriasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. 1. Talk directly to your manager about how to improve job performance

Lay it all out on the table and sincerely ask for advice from your boss about your situation. You're not asking them to butter you up or paint a rosy picture. You're asking for the truth.

Ron Mitchell, career coach and founder and CEO of New York City-based Gotta Mentor, advises on some good questions to ask your boss regarding job performance, "You should take control of this process. In this meeting you should ask two questions. First, what can I improve upon? Second, what additional things can I do to help you do your job better?"

Is asking your boss about job performance considered kissing boss booty? Maybe a bit, but your manager is likely under a lot of stress, too, so finding ways to help them and make them look better means your less likely to be sent packing.

3. Be profitable

If you're not clear how your work either makes the company money or cuts costs - or both - you'd be wise to figure that out soon. If you need help, talk to trusted friends, co-workers and even your boss. Letting your boss know that you're trying to improve your job performance and contribution to the bottom line can't hurt. Plus, it reminds them of how essential you are.

Origin of AIDS

Where - Because HIV-1 is closely related to a strain of the simian immunodeficiency virus that infects the chimpanzee subspecies Pan troglodytes troglodytes (SIVcpz), scientists generally accept that the virus originated in populations of wild chimpanzees in West-Central Africa. Exactly where this occurred—in the southeastern rain forests of Cameroon (modern East Province) near the Sanaga River, or further south near Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo—has been a matter of scientific discussion.
How -According to the 'Hunter Theory', the "simplest and most plausible explanation for the cross-species transmission", the virus was transmitted from a chimpanzee to a human when a bushmeat hunter was bitten or cut while hunting or butchering an animal. What is AIDS?
AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is a medical condition. People develop AIDS because HIV has damaged their natural defences against disease.

What is HIV?
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)
HIV is a virus. Viruses infect the cells that make up the human body and replicate (make new copies of themselves) within those cells. A virus can also damage human cells, which is one of the things that can make a person ill.
HIV can be passed from one person to another. Someone can become infected with HIV through contact with the bodily fluids of someone who already has HIV.
HIV stands for the 'Human Immunodeficiency Virus'. Someone who is diagnosed as infected with HIV is said to be 'HIV+' or 'HIV positive'.
Why is HIV dangerous?
The immune system is a group of cells and organs that protect your body by fighting disease. The human immune system usually finds and kills viruses fairly quickly.
So if the body's immune system attacks and kills viruses, what's the problem?
Different viruses attack different parts of the body - some may attack the skin, others the lungs, and so on. The common cold is caused by a virus. What makes HIV so dangerous is that it attacks the immune system itself - the very thing that would normally get rid of a virus. It particularly attacks a special type of immune system cell known as a CD4 lymphocyte.
HIV has a number of tricks that help it to evade the body's defences, including very rapid mutation. This means that once HIV has taken hold, the immune system can never fully get rid of it.
There isn't any way to tell just by looking if someone's been infected by HIV. In fact a person infected with HIV may look and feel perfectly well for many years and may not know that they are infected. But as the person's immune system weakens they become increasingly vulnerable to illnesses, many of which they would previously have fought off easily.
The only reliable way to tell whether someone has HIV is for them to take a blood test, which can detect infection from a few weeks after the virus first entered the body.
When HIV causes AIDS
A damaged immune system is not only more vulnerable to HIV, but also to the attacks of other infections. It won't always have the strength to fight off things that wouldn't have bothered it before.
As time goes by, a person who has been infected with HIV is likely to become ill more and more often until, usually several years after infection, they become ill with one of a number of particularly severe illnesses. It is at this point in the stages of HIV infection that they are said to have AIDS - when they first become seriously ill, or when the number of immune system cells left in their body drops below a particular point. Different countries have slightly different ways of defining the point at which a person is said to have AIDS rather than HIV.
AIDS is an extremely serious condition, and at this stage the body has very little defence against any sort of infection.
How long does HIV take to become AIDS?
Without drug treatment, HIV infection usually progresses to AIDS in an average of ten years. This average, though, is based on a person having a reasonable diet. Someone who is malnourished may well progress to AIDS and death more rapidly.
Antiretroviral medication can prolong the time between HIV infection and the onset of AIDS. Modern combination therapy is highly effective and, theoretically, someone with HIV can live for a long time before it becomes AIDS. These medicines, however, are not widely available in many poor countries around the world, and millions of people who cannot access medication continue to die.
How is HIV passed on?
HIV is found in the blood and the sexual fluids of an infected person, and in the breast milk of an infected woman. HIV transmission occurs when a sufficient quantity of these fluids get into someone else's bloodstream. There are various ways a person can become infected with HIV.
Ways in which you can be infected with HIV :
Unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person Sexual intercourse without a condom is risky, because the virus, which is present in an infected person's sexual fluids, can pass directly into the body of their partner. This is true for unprotected vaginal and anal sex. Oral sex carries a lower risk, but again HIV transmission can occur here if a condom is not used - for example, if one partner has bleeding gums or an open cut, however small, in their mouth.
Contact with an infected person's blood If sufficient blood from an infected person enters someone else's body then it can pass on the virus.
From mother to child HIV can be transmitted from an infected woman to her baby during pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding. There are special drugs that can greatly reduce the chances of this happening, but they are unavailable in much of the developing world.
Use of infected blood products Many people in the past have been infected with HIV by the use of blood transfusions and blood products which were contaminated with the virus - in hospitals, for example. In much of the world this is no longer a significant risk, as blood donations are routinely tested.
Injecting drugs People who use injected drugs are also vulnerable to HIV infection. In many parts of the world, often because it is illegal to possess them, injecting equipment or works are shared. A tiny amount of blood can transmit HIV, and can be injected directly into the bloodstream with the drugs.

Around the world, there are a number of different myths about HIV and AIDS. Here are some of the more common ones :
'You would have to drink a bucket of infected saliva to become infected yourself' . . . Yuck! This is a typical myth. HIV is found in saliva, but in quantities too small to infect someone. If you drink a bucket of saliva from an HIV positive person, you won't become infected. There has been only one recorded case of HIV transmission via kissing, out of all the many millions of kisses. In this case, both partners had extremely badly bleeding gums.
'Sex with a virgin can cure HIV' . . . This myth is common in some parts of Africa, and it is totally untrue. The myth has resulted in many rapes of young girls and children by HIV+ men, who often infect their victims. Rape won't cure anything and is a serious crime all around the world.
'It only happens to gay men / black people / young people, etc' . . . This myth is false. Most people who become infected with HIV didn't think it would happen to them, and were wrong.
'HIV can pass through latex' . . . Some people have been spreading rumours that the virus is so small that it can pass through 'holes' in latex used to make condoms. This is untrue. The fact is that latex blocks HIV, as well as sperm - preventing pregnancy, too.
What does 'safe sex' mean?
Safe sex refers to sexual activities which do not involve any blood or sexual fluid from one person getting into another person's body. If two people are having safe sex then, even if one person is infected, there is no possibility of the other person becoming infected. Examples of safe sex are cuddling, mutual masturbation, 'dry' (or 'clothed') sex . . .
In many parts of the world, particularly the USA, people are taught that the best form of safe sex is no sex - also called 'sexual abstinence'. Abstinence isn't a form of sex at all - it involves avoiding all sexual activity. Usually, young people are taught that they should abstain sexually until they marry, and then remain faithful to their partner. This is a good way for someone to avoid HIV infection, as long as their husband or wife is also completely faithful and doesn't infect them.
What is 'safer sex'?
Safer sex is used to refer to a range of sexual activities that hold little risk of HIV infection.
Safer sex is often taken to mean using a condom for sexual intercourse. Using a condom makes it very hard for the virus to pass between people when they are having sexual intercourse. A condom, when used properly, acts as a physical barrier that prevents infected fluid getting into the other person's body.
Is kissing risky?
Kissing someone on the cheek, also known as social kissing, does not pose any risk of HIV transmission.
Deep or open-mouthed kissing is considered a very low risk activity for transmission of HIV. This is because HIV is present in saliva but only in very minute quantities, insufficient to lead to HIV infection alone.
There has only been one documented instance of HIV infection as a result of kissing out of all the millions of cases recorded. This was as a result of infected blood getting into the mouth of the other person during open-mouthed kissing, and in this instance both partners had seriously bleeding gums.
Can anything 'create' HIV?
No. Unprotected sex, for example, is only risky if one partner is infected with the virus. If your partner is not carrying HIV, then no type of sex or sexual activity between you is going to cause you to become infected - you can't 'create' HIV by having unprotected anal sex, for example.
You also can't become infected through masturbation. In fact nothing you do on your own is going to give you HIV - it can only be transmitted from another person who already has the virus.
Is there a cure for AIDS?

Worryingly, surveys show that many people think that there's a 'cure' for AIDS - which makes them feel safer, and perhaps take risks that they otherwise shouldn't. These people are wrong, though - there is still no cure for AIDS.
There is antiretroviral medication which slows the progression from HIV to AIDS, and which can keep some people healthy for many years. In some cases, the antiretroviral medication seems to stop working after a number of years, but in other cases people can recover from AIDS and live with HIV for a very long time. But they have to take powerful medication every day of their lives, sometimes with very unpleasant side effects.
There is still no way to cure AIDS, and at the moment the only way to remain safe is not to become infected.

Ijarah — Arabic for leasing. An agreement in which banks lease an asset to a client for a specific time at a specific price. At the end of the leasing period, the client may or may not own the asset.
Istisna — The purchaser asks the seller to create a product, which is then sold to the purchaser at a given price. Istisna allows parties to contract the sale of a something that does not exist at the time of the agreement. Reuters
Mudaraba — the bank provides funding to entrepreneurs, who share the profits of any venture. The entrepreneurs do not put up any capital.
Murabaha — a financier, such as a bank, buys a commodity and sells it to the purchaser at a higher price.

The expectant mother…advice to her

It is irrefutable that the mother’s proper nourishment has telling effect on the health of the yet-to-bo-born child. In the like manner, the spiritual nourishment of the mother is no less important. If the mother is desirous of an obedient, pious and spiritually healthy child-and which Muslim parent isn’t? – she has no choice but to think and act in a manner which will manifest the luminous spirit of Islam. She will have to spend much time offering her devotions to Allah by performing salaat, making dhikr, reciting the Holy Quraan etc. This will have a two-fold result: the mother will remain spiritually and mentally healthy and at the same time the child will be inheriting piety, good manners and many other angelic qualities - Inshallah.

When a child is born…

It is indeed a joyous occasion when parents are blessed with a child. However, the extent of the joy could be enhanced even further if the laus of Shariat are adhered to and all other meaningless rituals are cast aside since they are neither mentioned in the Holy Quraan nor cited in the Hadeeth.

After birth the child should be given proper ghusl. Thereafter the message of the Greatness and Oneness of Allah Ta’ala, and the prophethood of Rasoolullah (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) should be the first words to reach the child’s innocent ears. This should be accomplished by giving azaan near his right ear and iqaamat close to his left. This noble task should be the prerogative of an aalim or pious elder of the family. If such a person is not at hand then any Muslim male may perform this sunnah.

Precaution against misfortune

In order to safeguard children against misfortune, the following duaa should be recited as often as possible and “blown” on the child:

I seek protection by the perfect words of Allah from the evil of every devil and reptile, and from the evil of every revengeful eye.

Ayatul-Kursi and the four Quls may also be recited and “blown” on the child.

The afterbirth and naval-cord

The afterbirth and naval-cord should be buried with due care since they are portions of the human body. As such, it should be treated with respect and honour. Disposing it in the drain or garbage is contrary to this concept. It is for this reason, too, that the dead body of a human being may not be cremated or abandoned in a pit for vultures and other animals to devour it… as is customary among the people of other religions.

Feeding

As the infant is the offspring of its mother, it is common knowledge that the mother’s milk is the most suitable source of nourishment for the baby. Therefore, the mother should most obligingly fulfill her duty of breast-feeding the child. By so doing bonds of love, affection and intimacy are strengthened between mother and child, and in the process, good habits and character are transmitted to the child. All these and countless other benefits are contained in breast-feeding. Artificial methods of feeding are all devoid of these advantages. Other methods of feeding should only be resorted to if ill-health or other circumstances do not permit her to breast-feed the child. However, she must ensure that no haraam food is consumed by the child. Bismillah should always be recited before feeding.

Maximum period for breast-feeding

The maximum period for which a child could be breast-fed is two years. To exceed this period is not permissible since the use of any part of the human body, without necessity, is not allowed. The milk of the mother is portion of the human body and there is no necessity to feed the child for more than two years. Therefore not to wean the child after the permissible period is haraam.

The child’s attire

Muslim males may not adorn themselves with clothes of silk or any red and bright orange (saffron) colour. Neither gold nor silver ornaments. Adornment is characteristic of womanhood.

Parents should also ensure that children dress in an honourable and modest manner-never imitating the ostentatious styles that may be in vogue. Due to the incorrect concept of ‘freedom’ and ‘broad-mindedness’, parents allow their children to dress and act in a manner they wish. This eventually results in problematic, rebellious and disobedient children who in adolescent stages cause parents and society untold heartbreak and much anxiety.

Hair, aqeeqah and naming the child

It is mustahab to remove the baby’s hair and to observe the aqeeqah and to name the child on the seventh day after birth. Gold or silver equivalent to the weight of the removed hair may be given as charity to the poor. Otherwise its equivalent value in money. The hair, being a portion of the human body should be buried with due respect. Aqeeqah is a form of Sadaqah whereby the child is safeguarded against misfortunes. Two sheep or two goats are offered for a boy while one goat or sheep suffices for a girl. If the seventh day co-incides with the days of qurbaani then portions of a cow, ox or camel may be offered as qurbaani and portions as aqeeqah.

Khatnah or circumcission

Circumcission before seven years is mustahab. The baby’s health must be taken into consideration before deciding on khatnah. However, khatnah before he attains twelve years is imperative.

The child should first be taught to say the kalimah when he begins to talk:

Education and good manners

Islam lays considerable emphasis on education and good character. It is the children’s rightful claim to be given sound Islamic education and taught good manners. This will not only afford the children happiness in both the worlds, but they will prove great assets to both, their families and society as well. This is why Rasoolullah (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) declared good manners as the ‘best thing’ a father can impart to his children. He also declared the mother as the ‘shepherdess’ of the household which implies that she is responsible for the correct upbringing of her children.

What parents owe their children

· Self-esteem: Parents owe their children personal worth and self-esteem which are the cornerstones for sound mental health. A child who is constantly criticized, “put down”, reproached, made to feel stupid and inept, continually compared with brothers or cousins who do better, will become so unsure and so terrified that he or she will lose enthusiasm for learning and becoming successful.

· Praising the child and expressing love: A child needs to be praised every now and again for his achievements and good behaviour. Some parents find it difficult to voice their approval or praise the child. However, there are other modes of expressing approval as well-a smile, caress or a kiss will convey approval. All these acts of love are very essential for producing children who are healthy in mind and body. It is for this reason that our Shariah lays considerable stress on showing love and affection the children. Rasoolullah (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) said that one who does not have mercy on our children and does not respect our elders, is not from among us.

· Equality: Parents should always treat their children equitably. Children tend to grow miserable, lose confident, become discouraged and resentful if parents show favoritism towards a particular child. It is related by Hadhrat Aaisha (RA) that once she offered a date to a lady beggar who was accompanied by her two daughters. The lady shared the date between her two daughters, depriving her self of a share. Then she departed. When Rasoolullah (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) came home, she related to him the incident. He said: “Whoever is involved with any daughters, and he treats them well (equitably), this will serve as a protection for him from the Fire.”

· Basic Islamic education: It is the duty of every parent to ensure that his children have basic Islamic education which covers aqaaid or Islamic beliefs, the five principles of Islam, the rules and masaail pertaining to these five principles and the correct recital of the Holy Quran.

· Standards and values: Decent standards and solid values should also be taught to the child. This means being respectful to parents, elders, the Ulama, teachers and just laws.

Cleanliness and other necessary precautions

Shariat has termed cleanliness half of Imaan. As such the mother should personally accomplish all maternal devotions such as feeding, bathing and keeping the child clean and paak. Soiled clothes must be cleaned without delay so that the danger of bacteria spreading is nipped in the bud. Thus, barakah and happiness will abound. The baby should also be immunized against infantile diseases. This does not, however, imply lack of faith and reliance in Allah.

Naming the child

It is the infant’s vested right to be honoured with a good name. When choosing a name for the child, it should be done with the intention that the child will be blessed with the barakah of that name. Here are some Ahadeeth to show the importance of selecting a good and correct name:

Ibne Umar (RA) relates Rasoolullah (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) as saying: “Truly, the most loved of your names by Allah are Abdullah and Abdur-Rahmaan.”

It is also reported in the Aboo Dawood that Rasoolullah (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “keep the names of prophets. And the most desirable names by Allah Ta’ala are Abdullah and Abdur-Rahmaan. And names that depict honesty are Haarith and Hammam. And the most disliked ones are Harb and Murrah.”

Nicknames

Parents are apt to call their children with nicknames, and in a good number of cases these names endure to the exclusion of real ones. While choosing nicknames or calling names care should be taken to see to it that one does not fall ashamed to be addressed by it in full grown age.

Some parents intentionally corrupt the names of their children, just in a fondly way, but later on this corruption goes so deep that it is beyond correction. As for instance Muhammad is turned into Mamad, Ahmed into Amad, Ebrahim into Ibu, Yusuf into Isop and so on. The parents are the root cause of such mutilations. They should avoid this sort of habit. Islamic philosophy of naming is that a child must have a good name, significant of good augury, congenial to human nature sweet, serene, noble, indicative of submission to the Almighty, avoiding names suggestive of ferociousness or sanguinity. The name should not smack of dirtiness, incivility, abuse or debasement.

The last but not least point to be kept in view while naming a child is that the Muslim identity should not be lost in strange and foreign names. The Muslims must be able to clearly make out whether a man or a woman belongs to Muslim society by just hearing their names. That is, the names must be familiar and relative to Muslims. There is nothing wrong in naming a girl as Rosy, or Rosetta, but on hearing it her identity is lost. Such un-Muslim names must be avoided even in nicknames or calling names. Every man and woman must have a distinct name but it is not possible to do so. Hence, human ingenuity and inventing power has attached prefixes and suffices to common names just to make out one from the other. This glossary also contends itself only with more common names in vogue among Muslims of Indo-Pak origin.

Humiliating and debasing names must also be eschewed as such names degrade a man and hurt his self-respect. Some sections give their children degrading names to cast off evil eyes and ward off the Angel of death. These are mere superstitions and revolting to the spirit of Islam.

Another point to be remembered in giving names is that bondman ship of a child must be attached to Allah alone and to none else. Hence, such names as Abdur Rasul, Ghulam Nabi, Ghulam Husain, Kalbe Ali (the dog of Ali), etc., must be shunned.

The Prophet (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) ordered to give a good name to the child on the seventh day, and cleanse it of the dirt (i.le. the hair of the head) and perform Aqiqah.

It is advisable to give children names of Arabic origin. This tends to create a sense of attachment towards the language of the origin of Islam and also uniformity and familiarity amongst the Muslims of the world. One may reside in any part of the world but his name of Arabic origin will at once indicate that he is a Muslim.

Compound names

During the prophet’s time the names were short and simple, but later on as Islam spread from country to country, the names also underwent great changes. Political upheavals developed personality-cult and the names of a section of Muslims revolved round Ali, Fateman, Hasan, Hussain. Others who shared equal love for all the caliphs combined their names such as Siddique Ali, Omer Ali, Uthman Ali. Many combined names where coined based on ‘Deen’, ‘Islam’ such as Hakimuddin (wise man of religion), Naserul Islam (Helper of Islam). Some liked to have prophet’s name prefixed to every name such as Muhammad Ali, Muhmmad Husain, Muhammad Hasan. The as Islamic Government and society assumed greater dimensions, bombastic, flamboyant, high sounding lengthy names also came into vogue. If I try to compile combined names the task would be beyond the scope of the present booklet. It is sufficient to give some guidance on combines names to enable parents to coin the names of their choice:

1. The combination must conform to the direction given by the holy prophet as mentioned above.

2. All conceivable noble abstract qualities and good adjectives could be pressed into service to form combined name such as Shujaa (courage), Shujauddin (courage of religion), Noor (light), Noorul Islam (light of Islam), etc.

3. Poetical names: Some like to give their children names in consonance with their own rhythm, metre and measure, lsuch as Ismail, Israel, Sulaman, Salman, Mohamed, Ahmed, etc.

4. Historical names: These are based on the year of birth and only those well versedin arithmetical poetry could make out fitting names.

Remember, there exists behind each Islamic name an Islamic spirit and meaning, which, when distorted, is ruined. For example, there is intended love for the Prophet of Islam, and barakah when naming a child Muhammad. But when Muhammad is called Mahmad or Gammat, this spirit of love for Rasoolullah (Sallallahu-alayhi-wasallam) and the acquiring of barakah by such a name is shattered. Should we not then refrahin from such sacrilegious practices?

May Allah Ta’ala guide us so that we may realize the beauty and uniqueness of the religion of Islam propounded by no other than the one who is the best of Allah’s creations-May Allah shower His choicest blessings upon him.

May Allah Ta’ala guide us on the Right Path. May He also grant this humble effort of mine to be a fulfillment of a long-felt need amongst the Muslims-especially the English-speaking Muslims. Ameen!!!

Woman in The Quran and The Sunnah

In Islam there is absolutely no difference between men and women as far as their relationship to Allah is concerned, as both are promised the same reward for good conduct and the same punishment for evil conduct. The Qur’an says:

And for women are rights over men similar to those of men over women. (2:226)

The Qur’an, in addressing the believers, often uses the expression, believing men and women to emphasize the equality of men and women in regard to their respective duties, rights, virtues and merits. It says:

For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah’s praise, for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward. (33:35)

This clearly contradicts the assertion of the Christian Fathers that women do not possess souls and that they will exist as sexless beings in the next life. The Qur’an says that women have souls in exactly the same way as men and will enter Paradise if they do good :

Enter into Paradise, you and your wives, with delight. (43:70)

Who so does that which is right, and believes, whether male or female, him or her will We quicken to happy life. (16:97)

The Qur’an admonishes those men who oppress or ill-treat women:

O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should you treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the dowry you have given them - except when they have become guilty of open lewdness. On the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If you take a dislike to them, it may be that you dislike something and Allah will bring about through it a great deal of good. (4:19)

Considering the fact that before the advent of Islam the pagan Arabs used to bury their female children alive, make women dance naked in the vicinity of the Ka’ba during their annual fairs, and treat women as mere chattels and objects of sexual pleasure possessing no rights or position whatsoever, these teachings of the Noble Qur’an were revolutionary. Unlike other religions, which regarded women as being possessed of inherent sin and wickedness and men as being possessed of inherent virtue and nobility, Islam regards men and women as being of the same essence created from a single soul. The Qur’an declares:

O mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord, Who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, his mate, and from this pair scattered (like seeds) countless men and women. Reverence Allah, through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and reverence the wombs (that bore you); for Allah ever watches over you. (4:1)

The Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) said, Women are the twin halves of men. The Qur’an emphasizes the essential unity of men and women in a most beautiful simile:

They (your wives) are your garment and you are a garment for them. (2:187)

Just as a garment hides our nakedness, so do husband and wife, by entering into the relationship of marriage, secure each other’s chastity. The garment gives comfort to the body; so does the husband find comfort in his wife’s company and she in his. The garment is the grace, the beauty, the embellishment of the body, so too are wives to their husbands as their husbands are to them. Islam does not consider woman an instrument of the Devil, but rather the Qur’an calls her muhsana - a fortress against Satan because a good woman, by marrying a man, helps him keep to the path of rectitude in his life. It is for this reason that marriage was considered by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a most virtuous act. He said: When a man marries, he has completed one half of his religion. He enjoined matrimony on Muslims by saying: Marriage is part of my way and whoever keeps away from my way is not from me (i.e. is not my follower). The Qur’an has given the raison d��tre of marriage in the following words:

And among His signs is this, that He has created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquillity with them; and He has put love and mercy between you. Verily in that are signs for those who reflect. (30:21)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was full of praise for virtuous and chaste women. He said:

The most precious thing in the world is a virtuous woman. He once told the future khalif, Umar: Shall I not inform you about the best treasure a man can hoard? It is a virtuous wife who pleases him whenever he looks towards her, and who guards herself when he is absent from her.

On other occasions the Prophet said:

The best property a man can have is a remembering tongue (about Allah), a grateful heart and a believing wife who helps him in his faith.

Before the advent of Islam women were often treated worse than animals. The Prophet wanted to put a stop to all cruelties to women. He preached kindness towards them. He told the Muslims: Fear Allah in respect of women. And: The best of you are they who behave best to their wives. And: A Muslim must not hate his wife, and if he be displeased with one bad quality in her, let him be pleased with one that is good. And: The more civil and kind a Muslim is to his wife, the more perfect in faith he is.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) was most emphatic in enjoining upon Muslims to be kind to their women when he delivered his famous khutba on the Mount of Mercy at Arafat in the presence of one hundred and twenty-four thousand of his Companions who had gathered there for the Hajj al-Wada (Farewell Pilgrimage). In it he ordered those present, and through them all those Muslims who were to come later, to be respectful and kind towards women. He said:

Fear Allah regarding women. Verily you have married them with the trust of Allah, and made their bodies lawful with the word of Allah. You have got (rights) over them, and they have got (rights) over you in respect of their food and clothing according to your means.

In Islam a woman is a completely independent personality. She can make any contract or bequest in her own name. She is entitled to inherit in her position as mother, as wife, as sister and as daughter. She has perfect liberty to choose her husband. The pagan society of pre-Islamic Arabia had an irrational prejudice against their female children whom they used to bury alive. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was totally opposed to this practice. He showed them that supporting their female children would act as a screen for them against the fire of Hell:

It is narrated by the Prophet’s wife, Aisha, that a woman entered her house with two of her daughters. She asked for charity but Aisha could not find anything except a date, which was given to her. The woman divided it between her two daughters and did not eat any herself. Then she got up and left. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to the house, Aisha told him about what had happened and he declared that when the woman was brought to account (on the Day of Judgment) about her two daughters they would act as a screen for her from the fires of Hell.

The worst calamity for a woman is when her husband passes away and, as a widow, the responsibility of maintaining the children falls upon her. In the Eastern World, where a woman does not always go out to earn her living, the problems of widowhood are indescribable. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) upheld the cause of widows. Most of his wives were widows. In an age when widows were rarely permitted to remarry, the Prophet encouraged his followers to marry them. He was always ready to help widows and exhorted his followers to do the same. Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet said: One who makes efforts (to help) the widow or a poor person is like a mujahid (warrior) in the path of Allah, or like one who stands up for prayers in the night and fasts in the day.

Woman as mother commands great respect in Islam. The Noble Qur’an speaks of the rights of the mother in a number of verses. It enjoins Muslims to show respect to their mothers and serve them well even if they are still unbelievers. The Prophet states emphatically that the rights of the mother are paramount. Abu Hurairah reported that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and asked: �O Messenger of Allah, who is the person who has the greatest right on me with regards to kindness and attention? He replied, Your mother. Then who? He replied, Your mother. Then who? He replied, Your mother. Then who? He replied, Your father.

In another tradition, the Prophet advised a believer not to join the war against the Quraish in defense of Islam, but to look after his mother, saying that his service to his mother would be a cause of his salvation. Muawiyah, the son of Jahimah, reported that Jahimah came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, Messenger of Allah! I want to join the fighting (in the path of Allah) and I have come to seek your advice. He said, Then remain in your mothers service, because Paradise is under her feet.

The Prophet’s followers accepted his teachings and brought about a revolution in their social attitude towards women. They no longer considered women as a mere chattels, but as an integral part of society. For the first time women were given the right to have a share in inheritance. In the new social climate, women rediscovered themselves and became highly active members of society rendering useful service during the wars which the pagan Arabs forced on the emerging Muslim umma. They carried provisions for the soldiers, nursed them, and even fought alongside them if it was necessary. It became a common sight to see women helping their husbands in the fields, carrying on trade and business independently, and going out of their homes to satisfy their needs.

The predominant idea in the teachings of Islam with regard to men and women is that a husband and wife should be full-fledged partners in making their home a happy and prosperous place, that they should be loyal and faithful to one another, and genuinely interested in each others welfare and the welfare of their children. A woman is expected to exercise a humanizing influence over her husband and to soften the sternness inherent in his nature. A man is enjoined to educate the women in his care so that they cultivate the qualities in which they, by their very nature, excel.

These aspects were much emphasized by the Prophet (peace be upon him). He exhorted men to marry women of piety and women to be faithful to their husbands and kind to their children. He said:

Among my followers the best of men are those who are best to their wives, and the best of women are those who are best to their husbands. To each of such women is set down a reward equivalent to the reward of a thousand martyrs. Among my followers, again, the best of women are those who assist their husbands in their work, and love them dearly for everything, save what is a transgression of Allah’s laws.

Once Muawiyah asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), What are the rights that a wife has over her husband? The Prophet replied, Feed her when you take your food, give her clothes to wear when you wear clothes, refrain from giving her a slap on the face or abusing her, and do not separate from your wife, except within the house. Once he was heard praising the women of the tribe of Quraish, ...because they are the kindest to their children while they are infants and because they keep a careful watch over the belongings of their husbands.

The Shari’ah regards women as the spiritual and intellectual equals of men. The main distinction it makes between them is in the physical realm based on the equitable principle of fair division of labor. It allots the more strenuous work to the man and makes him responsible for the maintenance of the family. It allots the work of managing the home and the upbringing and training of children to the woman, work which has the greatest importance in the task of building a healthy and prosperous society.

It is a fact, however, that sound administration within the domestic field is impossible without a unified policy. For this reason the Shari’ah requires a man, as head of the family, to consult with his family and then to have the final say in decisions concerning it. In doing so he must not abuse his prerogative to cause any injury to his wife. Any transgression of this principle involves for him the risk of losing the favor of Allah, because his wife is not his subordinate but she is, to use the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the queen of her house, and this is the position a true believer is expected to give his wife. In contrast to these enlightened teachings of Islam in respect of women, Western talk of women’s liberation or emancipation is actually a disguised form of exploitation of her body, deprivation of her honor, and degradation of her soul!

Meaning of Insha' ALLAH and Masha' ALLAH

Difference in Salaat between Men and Women

There are a few differences with regards to the postures adopted by men and women when offering salaat. They are as follows:

1. If a man is covered with a sheet or shawl, then at the time of saying takbeer-e-tahreemah he has to take out his hands from under the shawl and raise them upto his ears if there is no need to keep them inside. For example, when it is cold, he still has to take them out. As for women, under all conditions they have to keep their hands inside and raise them upto their shoulders.

2. After saying the takbeer-e-tahreemah, men have to clasp their hands below the navel while women have to clasp them on their chests.

3. When clasping the hands, men have to place the right hand over the left hand in such a way that the thumb and little finger encircles the left wrist with the remaining three fingers extended along the left arm. A woman has to place her right palm over the back of her left hand and she should not form a circle with the right hand, nor should she clasp her left hand.

4. In ruku men have to bow down quite low, to the extent that their heads, hips, and backs are in line. Women should not go so low down. Instead, they should only bow down to the extent that their hands touch their knees.

5. In ruku, men should spread out their fingers and place them on their knees while women should not do this. Instead, they should keep their fingers together when placing them on their knees.

6. In ruku, men should keep their elbows away from their sides while women should keep them close to their sides.

7. In sajdah, men should keep their stomachs away from their thighs and their arms away from their sides while women have to keep all these parts close together.

8. In sajdah, men should raise their elbows above the ground while women should place them on the ground.

9. In sajdah, men should keep the toes upright while women should not do this.

10. In the sitting posture, men should sit on their left leg and the fingers of the right leg should be upright. Women have to sit on their left buttock and both their legs should point towards the right hand side in such a way that the right thigh comes over the left thigh and the right calf over the left calf.

11.. Women do not have the choice of offering their salaat aloud under any circumstances. They should always offer all their salaats in a soft voice.

In nearly all the western countries including Europe, the PRIMARY choice for meat is PIG. There are a lot of farms in these countries to A breed this animal. In France alone, Pig Farms account for more than 42,000.

PIGS have the highest quantity of FAT in their body than any other animal. But Europeans and Americans try to avoid fats.

Thus, where does the FAT from these PIGS go? All pigs are cut in slaughter houses under the control of the department of food and it was the headache of the department of food to dispose of the fat removed from these pigs.

Formally, it was burnt (about 60 years ago). Then they thought of utilizing it. First, they experimented it in the making of SOAPS and it worked.

Then, a full network was formed and this FAT was chemically Processed, Packed and marketed, while the other manufacturing companies bought it. In the meantime, all European States made it a rule that every Food, Medical and Personal Hygiene product should have the ingredients listed on its cover. so, this ingredient was listed as PIG FAT.

Those who are living in Europe for the past 40 years know about this.

But, these products came under a ban by the ISLAMIC COUNTRIES at that time, which resulted in a trade deficit.

Going back in time, if you are somehow related to South East Asia, you might know about the provoking factors of the 1857 CIVIL WAR. At that time, Rifle Bullets were made in Europe and transported to the sub-continent through the Sea. It took months to reach there and the gun powder in it was ruined due to the exposure to sea.

Now, these multinational companies were again facing a severe drought of money as 75% of their income comes from selling their goods to Muslim Countries, and these earn BILLIONS OF DOLLARS of Profit from their exports to the MUSLIM WORLD.

Finally they decided to start a coding language, so that only their Departments of Food Administration should know what they are using, and the common man is left lurking in the dark. These rivers flow together and there nature came to know in the starting of 20th century where as ALLAH (SWT)mentioned the nature of these two rivers in Holy Quran around 1400years Back.

These two river flow together and finally settle down in the Ocean,taste of one river is extreamly sweet whereas the taste of another river is extreamly opposite (that is bitter) but they never mix.There is nothing in between these rivers which stops them from mixing togther but its is the will & order of ALLAH (SWT)

An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Qur'an. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Qur'an just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Ta ke this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.. The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would Leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!" "So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

"Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be Changed, inside and out. That is the work of Allah in our lives."

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink." Volume 8, Book 73, Number 84

Virtues of Fasting

• Hadrat Abu Huraira (ra) reports that the Blessed Prophet said:

– "All the good deeds of believers are increased from ten to seven hundred times except for fasting.

– Allah says; fasting is for Me and I alone will give reward for it as I wish, since the person has given up his food and passions for My pleasure.

– There are two joys for the fasting person: a joy at time of breaking the fast and a second joy at the time of meeting his Lord on the day of Judgement.

– To his Lord, the bad breath of the fasting person’s mouth is better than the odour of musk."

The Dreadful consequences of missing the fast

Abu Huraira (ra) reports that Holy Prophet said:

• "Whoever misses a single fast of Ramadan without an excuse or illness will never be able to make up for it even if he fasted for eternity.“

A very powerful story

There were only 15 minutes left before Salat-ul Isha.

He quickly made Wudhu and performed Salat-ul Maghrib.

While making Tasbih, he again remembered his grandmother and was
embarrassed by how he had prayed.

His grandmother prayed with such tranquility and peace.

He began making Dua and went down to make Sajdah and stayed like that for
a while.

He had been at work all day and was tired, so tired.

He awoke abruptly to the sound of noise and shouting.

He was sweating profusely.

He looked around.

It was very crowded.

Every direction he looked in was filled with people.

Some stood frozen looking around, some were running left and right and
some were on their knees with their heads in their hands just waiting.

Pure fear and apprehension filled him as he realized where he was.

His heart was about to burst.

It was the Day of Judgment.

When he was alive, he had heard many things about the questioning on the

Day of Judgment, but that seemed so long ago.

Could this be something his mind made up?

No, the wait and the fear were so great that he could not have imagined
this.

The interrogation was still going on.

He began moving frantically from people to people to ask if his name had

been called.

No one could answer him.

All of a sudden his name was called and the crowd split into two and made
a passageway for him.

Two angels grabbed his arms and led him forward.

He walked with unknowing eyes through the crowd.

The angels brought him to the centre and left him there.

His head was bent down and his whole life was passing in front of his
eyes like a movie.

He opened his eyes but saw only another world.

The people were all helping others.

He saw his father running from one lecture to the other, spending his
wealth in the way of Islam.

His mother invited guests to their house and one table was being set
while the other was being cleared.

He pleaded his case,

'I too was always on this path.

I helped others.

I spread the word of Allah.

I performed my Salah.

I fasted in the month of Ramadhan.

Whatever Allah ordered us to do, I did.

Whatever he ordered us not to do, I did not.'

He began to cry and think about how much he loved Allah.

He knew that whatever he had done in life would be less than what Allah
deserved and his only protector was Allah He was sweating like never
before and was shaking all over.

His eyes were fixed on the scale, waiting for the final decision.

At last, the decision was made.

The two angels with sheets of paper in their hands, turned to the crowd.

His legs felt like they were going to collapse.

He closed his eyes as they began

To read the names of those people who were to enter Jahannam.

His name was read first.

He fell on his knees and yelled that this couldn't be,

'How could I go to Jahannam?

I served others all my life,

I spread the word of Allah to others'.

His eyes had become blurry and he was shaking with sweat.

The two angels took him by the arms.

As his feet dragged, they went through the crowd and advanced toward the

blazing flames of Jahannam.

He was yelling and wondered if there was any person who was going to help
him.

He was yelling of all the good deeds he had done, how he had helped his
father, his fasts, prayers, the Noble Qur'an that he read, he was asking

if none of them would help him.

The Jahannam angels continued to drag him.

They had gotten closer to the Hellfire.

He looked back and these were his last pleas.

Had not Rasulullah [SAW] said,

'How clean would a person be who bathes in a river five times a day, so

too does the Salah performed five times cleanse someone of their sins'?

He began yelling,

'My prayers? My prayers? My prayers.?'

The two angels did not stop, and they came to the edge of the abyss of
Jahannam.

The flames of the fire were burning his face.

He looked back one last time, but his eyes were dry of hope and he had
nothing left in him.

One of the angels pushed him in.

He found himself in the air and falling towards the flames.

He had just fallen five or six feet when a hand grabbed him by the arm
and pulled him back.

He lifted his head and saw an old man with a long white beard.

He wiped some dust off himself and asked him,

'Who are you?'

The old man replied,

'I am your prayers'.

'Why are you so late! I was almost in the Fire!

You rescued me at the last minute before I fell in'.

The old man smiled and shook his head,

'You always performed me at the last minute, did you forget?'

At that instant, he blinked and lifted his head from Sajdah.

He was in a sweat.

He listened to the voices coming from outside.

He heard the Adhan for Salat-ul Isha.

He got up quickly and went to perform Wudhu.

Maybe, this is a good deed that can help you during the day of judgment.

BUT THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS DRINK IS ANOTHER THING:

FRANCE and DENMARK have just prohibited it as a cocktail of death, due to its vitamin components mixed with GLUCURONOLACTONE' , a highly dangerous chemical, which was developed by the United States Department of Defense during the sixties to stimulate the moral of the troops based in VIETNAM, which acted like a hallucinogenic drug that calmed the stress of the war.

But their effects in the organism were so devastating, that it was discontinued, because of the high index of cases of migraines, cerebral tumors and diseases of the liver that was evident in the soldiers who consumed it.

And in spite of it, in the can of RED BULL you can still find as one of its components: GLUCURONOLACTONE, categorized medically as a stimulant. But what it does not say on the can of ,RED BULL are the consequences of its consumption, and that has forced us to place a series of WARNINGS:

1. It is dangerous to take it if you do not engage in physical exercise afterwards, since its energizing function accelerates the heart rate and can cause a sudden attack.

2. You run the risk of undergoing a cerebral hemorrhage, because RED BULL contains components that dilute the blood so that the heart utilizes less energy to pump the blood, and thus be able to deliver physical force with less effort being exerted.

3. It is prohibited to mix RED BULL with alcohol, because the mixture turns the drink into a " Deadly Bomb " that attacks the liver directly, causing the affected area never to regenerate anymore.

4. One of the main components of RED BULL is the B12 vitamin, used in medicine to recover patients who are in a coma; from here the hypertension and the state of excitement which is experienced after taking it, as if you were in a drunken state.

5. The regular consumption of RED BULL triggers off symptoms in the form of a series of irreversible nervous and neuronal diseases.

CONCLUSION: It is a drink that should be prohibited in the entire world as when it is mixed with alcohol it creates a TIME BOMB for the human body, mainly between innocent adolescents and adults with little experience.

Psychology in the Qur'an

Sir William Ewart Gladstone, four time Prime Minister of Great Britain, is famous for telling the English Parliament, “As long as this Quran exists, Europe will never be able to conquer the Islamic East.” Huh! How psychologicallly paranoid is that? Today, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is broadcasting the readings of our Holy Qur’an! I guess they are no longer paranoid compared to when they colonialised Muslim countries back then. Or is it because they have just realised that they do not have to “physically” remove the Qur’an from the hands of the Muslims but instead “psychologically” remove the Qur’an from the mind and heart of the Muslims?

Let’s say, theoretically, they manage to do that during colonialisation, before they gave us our so-called independence (merdeka!), isn’t that scary? All these while, we thought that we have been a good Muslims by reading the Qur’an, when in fact, we may be far from Allah’s guidance (hidayah) and His help (`inayah). We may be doomed forever as 2nd (or even 3rd) class among the world population.

So, how can I maximise my possibilities to gain hidayah and `inayah? How can Qur’an be my secret weapon to be the leader of the world? Based on several books on the Qur’an by al-Qaradawi, there are perhaps two ways: (1) compare how Qur’an itself prioritise issus with how “I” prioritise issues, and (2) compare how how those who are confirmed hidayah recipients (i.e. Sahabah RAA) interacted with the Qur’an with how “I” interact with the Qur’an. Take a deep breath. Here we goes…

Qur’anic Focus vs. My Personal Focus in Life

Al-Qur’an: it touches the issue of taharah/purity e.g. water, najasah/impurities, wudu’/ablution, tayammum, ghusl/bath, ONLY in ONE or two verses (i.e. al-Qur’an, 5: 6).

Me: I, on the other hand, am so obsessed about learning and practising the details about taharah i.e. sah/validity vs. batal/nullification, wajib (obligatory) vs. mandub/optional), makruh (undesirable) vs. haram/prohibited), najasah (impurity) vs. taharah/purity, etc. and even getting involved in unnecessary arguments about it among fellow Muslims

Al-Qur’an: It talks about jihad (Islamic struggle) in numerous verses. In fact, a number of chapters in the Qur’an are named with jihad themes e.g. Al-Anfal, al-Tawbah, al-Ahzab, al-Qital, al-Fath, al-Saf, al-Hashr, al-Hadid, al-`Adiyat, and al-Nasr. And does not include descriptions about jihad in lengthy chapters e.g. al-Baqarah, Ali `Imran, and al-Nisa’! It’s like watching episodes after episodes of war movies (or movies about personal, group, and nation struggles) with lots of “psychological” lessons.

Me: I haven’t really struggle for the sake of Islam in terms of da`wah (Islamic propagation) and tarbiyyah (Islamic education), what more to be involved in war to defend Islam. People are confused about Islam, and the enemies make people MORE confused about Islam. But, I am more concerned about taharah and najasah which is supposed to be a very simple issue.

Psychological Reflection: Nothing wrong with what I am doing right now on taharah, I’m sure - from micro-perspective (okay, okay, I should reduce my obession with taharah and go on with the next topic in `ibadah and other topics about family, society, and states). What’s wrong is what I do NOT do at the moment on jihad - from macro-perspective. Oh no! Perhaps I’m missing on other much more important hidayah!

Al-Qur’an: It tells us about the miraculous birth of Isa (Jesus) AS, the quite miraculous birth of Yahya (John) AS, plus the birth of Maryam (Mary) AS. Surprisingly, it never touches on the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW! That’s weird, right? Leaving our beloved prophet’s birthday. Perhaps, the reason is the stories of the three births concern `aqidah - about Allah qudrah (power), `ilm (knowledge), and iradah (will) - which some Muslims (back then, and even now) are still confused about it.

Me: I like celebrating Mawlid al-Rasul (birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW) a lot. There’s of course, the mass procession in the middle of several major roads chanting the salawat (blessings for Prophet Muhammad) and carrying banner. Sometimes, there are religous talk about the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW (and some speakers will tell us about the miraculous birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW (and some speakers will tell us about the miraculous events that took place during the birth of the Prophet Muhammad SAW - which doesn’t have anything to do with `aqidah issues except making us feel good; and I hope those stories are sahih/valid). Sometimes there are Islamic entertainment. But one thing is always there… food, glorious food!

Psychological Reflection: I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with ‘remembering’ Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. I know some groups labelled its celebration as bid`ah (religious innovation). But, as long I don’t believe that it is a sunnah, as long I don’t believe that is an `ibadah, as long as I treat it as a social/mu`amalah event, and as long as I don’t get angry with those who label it as bid`ah (because they have a strong point too), I guess it is okay, right? The problem is: have I ever pondered on the birth of Isa AS, Yahya AS, and Maryam AS, how it affects my iman toward Allah, how it affect my understanding of Christianity, how it affects my da`wah to the Christians (like what Ja`far ibn Abi Talib did to Najashi, King of Habshah), and how it affects my behaviours when Allah shows me some signs (in the Qur’an/Sunnah and natural events), that my belief/practice is wrong? Have I been neglecting some hidayah message in the Qur’an? Again?

Al-Qur’an: You know, I like reading stories. And Qur’an is full of stories on various events that occur during Prophet Muhammad SAW era. What are the events, you asked me? The war of Badr (in surah al-Anfal), the war of Uhud (in surah Ali `Imran), the war of Khandaq & Bani Qurayzah (in surah al-Ahzab), the war of Bani Nadr (in surah al-Hashr), the treaty of Hudaybiyyah (in surah al-Fath), and the war of Tabuk & Hunayn (in surah al-Tawbah) to name a few. Hey, do you notice that all the themes of the stories are about war and war-related?

Me: I like to be involved in ceremonies that commemorate events during Prophet Muhammad SAW time. Let me see… Mawlid al-Rasul (the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW) (which, by the way, is not mentioned in the Qur’an), Isra’ (which is mentioned directly in ONE verse in surah al-Isra’), and Mi`raj (which is mentioned indirectly in a few verses in surah al-Najm. Err… I guess that’s about it. I don’t really celebrate the other events mentioned in the Qur’an, nor do I remember the months that they took place, what more to read/review the stories on an annual basis.

Psychological Reflection: I know, I know… I have not done justice to the Qur’an. I should have been more concerned about the stories of ghazawat/war during Prophet’s time. And I know too that Prophet’s Companions RAA never really celebrate Mawlid al-Rasul and Isra’ Mi`raj. In contrast, they like to tell stories about their experiences in wars to their children and followers because of the inspirational values on the practical aspects of `amal e.g. da`wah, tarbiyyah, and jihad (just like watching war movies, right?). And they are the best generation that received hidayah. I guess it’s time to read various sirah nabawiyyah (biography of Prophet Muhammad) books. Shame on me.

Al-Qur’an: I’ve noticed that there are so many chapters and verses in the Qur’an that talk about Bani Isra’il (the Ancient Jews). Sometimes I wonder whether Al-Qur’an is revealed “more” to the Jews than it is for Muslims. Look at surah(s) al-Baqarah, Ali `Imran, al-Nisa’, al-Ma’idah, and al-A`raf (to name just a few). And these are the lengthiest chapters in the Qur’an! Surely, there must be a reason why Allah wants us to read about them, right?

Me: Well, I do donate for the Palestinian course (sometimes…) and I do hate what the Jews did to the Palestinians and even verbally criticise the Jews (well, only among close circles of friends, not directly to them). Other than that, I just live my life and practically ignore the issues of Israelis-Palestinians war, and ignore all the tactics the Jews use to influence the mind and behaviours of Muslims (young and old) so that we are far from the hidayah.

Psychological Reflection: This part really make me sad. Imagine, all these while, my life has been influenced (controlled) by the secular ideas that have penetrated my mind without my realising it. I did the best I can to contribute, but somehow my hatred toward the Jews is more racially- and emotionally-based rather than “iman”ically-, academically-, and strategically-based. For example, have I really studied their religion (including the psychology of Judaism)? Have I really studied their tactics in attacking Muslims physically, psychologically, and spiritually (via liteature, media, and other services/products) the way Prophet SAW and Companion RA did? Have I really helped in building physical, psychological, and spiritual defense among Muslims so that they will not be defeated (or influenced) by the Jews? And more importantly, have I perform da`wah and tarbiyyah to prepare Muslims to counter-attack the Jewish ideas in literature, media, etc. [Note: Jews here refer to the Jews who purposely make enemy with Muslims like most Zionists). See my "disclaimer" in previous posting on surah al-Fatihah]. And have I tried to perform da`wah to a lot of Jews out there who have good sincere souls but were prevented from understanding the real, pure, and beautiful religion we called Islam?

Four comparisons have been made, and I’m not sure whether I’m qualified to gain the total Qur’anic package of hidayah, if I do not do anything starting from now.

Interacting with Qur’an: Sahabah RAA vs. Me

Sahabah: They read the Qur’an to get guide for them to live the life as human being.
Me: I usually read the Qur’an ONLY to get rewards and barakah/blessing of reading it.

Sahabah: They read the Qur’an as the guide on rulings/hukm for living, breathing people.
Me: I usually read the Qur’an to donate the rewards (of reading it) to dead people.

Sahabah: They treat the Qur’an as decoration of their souls and hearts with `aqidah/creed, `ibadah/worship, and akhlaq/moral that Allah wants or pleases.
Me: I usually treat the Qur’an as decorations on my wall, desk, and vehicle.

Sahabah: They read the Qur’an to make them closer to Allah.
Me: I usually read the Qur’an to make shaytan/devil distant from me.

Sahabah: When they read the Qur’anic verses on kufur, fasiq, zalim, nifaq, etc., they psychologiclaly reflcted (muhasabah) themselves whether they have the same characteristics.
Me: Weh I read the Qur’anic verses on kufr, fasiq, zalim, nifaq, etc., I usually point my finger to the non-Muslims or worse to my fellow Muslims.

Sahabah: They read 10 verses of the Qur’an and would not continue reading until they understodd and practiced the hidayah message.
Me: i usually read the Qur’an to finish it quickly before khitan/circumcision, before aqad nikah/marriage, and before the month of Syawal during Ramadan (without proper tadarrus or learning with the aim to understand and practice).

Sahabah: They read the Qur’an to improve their own `aqidah, `ibadah, akhlaq, and as a guide for da`wah and jihad in the society.
Me: I usually read the Qur’an in front of a jar of water and then drink it to get inspiration before sitting for exams (even when I have not really studied), to get profit from my business (using the so-called ayat 1000 dinar), or to get people to like/love me (using the so-called ayat “pengasih”/charm).

Psychological Reflection: Can I really get the hidayah that I always ask in surah al-Fatihah every day, if the way I interact with the Qur’an is far different and mediocre compared to the way the Sahabah RAA (who had received hidayah) interacting the Qur’an.

I think, starting from this Ramadan, I need to renew my relationship with the Qur’an based on the following study plan:

Al-Fatihah as the preface (asking for hidayah)
Early surah al-Baqarah as orientation of hidayah and non-hidayah people.

It is shameful of me thinking that most non-Muslims who converted/reverted to Islam (and stay in Islam) because of their interaction with the Qur’an (not because of their interaction with Muslims). What about me? I seldom have high quality interaction with the Qur’an. I just treat like an ”acquaintance” or a friend whom I only admire because of his/her beauty, or as a friend ONLY when I need him/her. I didn’t really interacting the Qur’an as my very best/close “friend,” trying to understand it, trying to things that it likes, and avoid things that it dislikes, trying to promote it ideas to other people, and trying to make other people like it wants to be liked.

Should I be overconfident that my `aqidah, `ibadah, akhlaq, and even my da`wah are TOTALLY correct? After all, it took almost 23 years for the Sahabah RAA to be educated on a constant basis about their `aqidah, `ibadah, akhlaq, and da`wah!

“O Allah! Show (give hidayah) me (on) the straight path” (the preface of the Qur’an, al-Fatihah 1: 6)

“This is the Book (al-Qur’an), no doubt about it. In it is hidayah to the muttaqin” (the introductory chapter of the Qur’an, al-Baqarah 2: 2)

“Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind” (the first verse of the last chapter of the Qur’an, al-Nas 114: 1). “(from) among jinns and among men (that prevent me, or lead me away, from hidayah)” (the last verse of the last chapter of the Qur’an, al-Nas 114: 6)

I pray that the quality of my interaction with the Qur’an during this Ramadan will improve. Ramadan, here I come…

The Miracle of Zam Zam Water

Research by Tariq Hussain and Moin Uddin Ahmed. Come the Hajj season, and I am reminded of the wonders of Zumzum water. Let me go back to how it all started. In 1971, an Egyptian doctor wrote to the European Press, a letter saying that Zumzum water was not fit for drinking purposes. I immediately thought that this was just a form of prejudice against the Muslims and that since his statement was based on the assumption that since the Ka'aba was a shallow place (below sea level) and located in the center of the city of Makkah, the wastewater of the city collecting through the drains fell into well holding the water.

Fortunately, the news came to King Faisal's ears who got extremely angry and decided to disprove the Egyptian doctor's provocative statement. He immediately ordered the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources to investigate and send samples of Zumzum water to European laboratories for testing the potability of the water.

The ministry then instructed the Jeddah Power and Desalination Plants to carry out this task. It was here that I was employed as a desalting engineer (chemical engineer to produce drinking water from sea water). I was chosen to carry out this assignment. At this stage, I remember that I had no idea what the well holding the water looked like. I went to Makkah and reported to the authorities at the Ka'aba explaining my purpose of visit.

They deputed a man to give me whatever help was required. When we reached the well, it was hard for me to believe that a pool of water, more like a small pond, about 18 by 14 feet, was the well that supplied millions of gallons of water every year to hajis ever since it came into existence at the time of Hazrat Ibrahim A.S., many, many centuries ago. I started my investigations and took the dimensions of the well. I asked the man to show me the depth of the well.

I was told that these wells were mostly dry. When I reached my office in Jeddah I reported my findings to my boss who listened with great interest but made a very irrational comment that the Zumzum well could be internally connected to the Red Sea . How was it possible when Makkah is about 75 kilometres away from the sea and the wells located before the city usually remains dry? The results of the water samples tested by the European laboratories and the one We analysed in our own laboratory were found to be almost identical.

The difference between Zumzum water and other water (city water) was in the quantity of calcium and magnesium salts.

The content of these was slightly higher in Zumzum water. This may be why this water refreshes tired hajis, but more significantly, the water contained fluorides that have an effective germicidal action. Moreover, the remarks of the European laboratories showed that the water was fit for drinking.

Hence the statement made by the Egyptian doctor was proved false. When this was reported to King Faisal he was extremely pleased and ordered the contradiction of the report in the European Press. In a way, it was a blessing that this study was undertaken to show the chemical composition of the water. In fact, the more you explore, the more wonders surface and you find yourself believing implicitly in the miracles of this water that God bestowed as a gift on the faithful coming from far and wide to the desert land for pilgrimage.

Let me sum up some of the features of Zumzum water. This well has never dried up. On the contrary it has always fulfilled the demand for water.. It has always maintained the same salt composition and taste ever since it came into existence. Its potability has always been universally recognised as pilgrims from all over the world visit Ka'aba every year for Hajj and umrah, but have never complained about it. Instead, they have always enjoyed the water that refreshes them. Water tastes different at different places..

Zumzum water's appeal has always been universal. This water has never been chemically treated or chlorinated as is the case with water pumped into the cities. Biological growth and vegetation usually takes place in most wells. This makes the water unpalatable owing to the growth of algae causing taste and odour problems.

But in the case of the Zumzum water well, there wasn't any sign of biological growth. Centuries ago, Hagar (raa) searched desperately for water in the hills of Safa and Marwa to give to her newly born son Ismail (pbuh) As she ran from one place to another in search of water, her child rubbed his feet against the sand. A pool of water surfaced, and by the grace of God, shaped itself into a well which came to be called Zumzum water.
